Route 895 Construction - February 2002 - Photos 9-12
Here's 4 photos of Route 895 under construction, taken on February 26, 2002, by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and used here by their permission.
Above, standing on the Chesterfield County side of the James River, looking eastward at the main span of the Route 895 James River Bridge. As you can see, the eastbound main span is complete and the westbound main span is still under construction, with the form travelers being used for the balanced cantilever cast-in-place segmental construction of the westbound main span of the James River Bridge. A fairly wide-angle lens was used, and that is why the perspective seems to taper upward.

A fairly wide-angle lens was used, and it exaggerates the length of the main span, which has 730 feet of horizontal clearance and 145 feet of vertical navigational clearance.
