Route 895 Construction - May 2002 - Photos 1-4
Here's 4 photos of Route 895 under construction, taken on May 8, 2002 while I was on an ASHE field trip to the whole Route 895 project.
Above, I'm standing on the eastbound
span of the west approach of the Route 895 James River Bridge, looking west.
This portion of bridge deck is near completion, with a concrete overlay placed
over the top of the series of pre-cast post-tensioned reinforced concrete
superstructure segments, and the parapets have been constructed. The elevated ramp under
construction is Ramp G, the ramp from westbound Route 895 to southbound I-95.

span of the west approach of the Route 895 James River Bridge, looking east. The
bridge stub visible to the right of the bridge parapet is the stub of Future
Ramp F, the ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound Route 895. See my main Route 895 Connector (Pocahontas Parkway)
article for details about why this ramp is not being built now. See the section
"Future Ramp F at I-95/Route 895/VA-150 Interchange".

James River Bridge, looking east. This is similar to the previous photo, but
provides a closer view of the stub of Future Ramp F, the ramp from southbound
I-95 to eastbound Route 895. The elevated ramp in the background is Ramp E.

will be built in the future.
